The Cellule des Matériels Radiés (CMR) is a small department of a few people located in Saint-Jory and set up to organise the disposal of the many railway vehicles destined for demolition, with the renewal of fleets, which, for lack of appropriate organisation, were piling up on the edge of the tracks. CMR had quickly understood that its mission was primarily a matter of logistics: inventory, identification, orientation towards the disposal channels and routing. 

This last aspect was not the least: in a large company based on industrial processes such as the SNCF, this type of transport was almost an impossible mission, combining almost all the handicaps: customised routes, particular transport conditions imposing sometimes low speeds, and above all little interest from the other players in the company, naturally oriented towards daily production and not very interested in this type of activity. 

This book intends to recount and illustrate 15 years of this type of journey.
