L'ARTILLERIE ANTICHAR ALLEMANDE DURANT LA SECONDE GUERRE MONDIALE

Reference : 9782916403533
Year : 1939 - 1945

Text : FR

The appearance of armoured fighting vehicles in 1916 made it necessary to develop an appropriate replica. In principle, the tank's main opponent was another tank, but it was an expensive and relatively complex weapon. In these conditions, infantry units had to have their own anti-tank weapons, in this case guns whose projectiles were capable of piercing the armour of opposing vehicles.

In 1939, the Germans began hostilities with a 3.7 cm gun that quickly became obsolete, particularly in the face of French B1bis tanks, T-34s and other Soviet KVs. This marked the beginning of an arms race that saw the development of 7.5 and 8.8 cm tubes with outstanding ballistic performance. And the Third Reich even studied powerful 12.8cm cannons weighing more than 10 tons and capable of hitting a target at 3,000m!

This book, largely illustrated with photos, profiles and plans, is an exhaustive study of the German anti-tank arsenal by presenting all the pieces (of German origin, but also of capture) used by the Wehrmacht from 1939 to 1945.
