Reference : 9791021000926

Text : Fr

"I didn't know it was so easy to do your duty when you are in danger." - Jean Moulin -

Who was Jean Moulin really? In the memory of the French, Jean Moulin is the hero par excellence. Unifier of the resistance, personal representative of General de Gaulle in occupied France, Jean Moulin carried out his mission to the point of sacrificing his life.

Beyond the clichés, thanks to this richly illustrated album, we discover a Jean Moulin attached to his native Provence, a sportsman, a lover of life and women, gifted with a beautiful pencil stroke and an art dealer. Supported by more than a hundred photos, letters, documents, drawings and paintings, shown here for the first time, the singular itinerary of a republican, senior civil servant, man of the left, prefect, and from June 1940 onwards, a fierce opponent of the Nazi occupier, emerges.

An intimate Jean Moulin is revealed to us.

"It is the raison d'être of this book to breathe life into this prestigious name thanks to the contribution of collections previously kept within the family and which I had the privilege of consulting for my work on the man for whom I was secretary for eighteen months. - Daniel Cordier -

"On June 17, 1940, spared by death, the patriot that he was became an irreducible opponent of the Nazi occupier and turned into a rebel. - Jean-Pierre Azéma -
