October 25, 1994, off the coast of San Diego, California. An F-14 is about to land when a serious incident occurs. In the final seconds before crashing, the aircraft's life flashes before its eyes, from its birth to its final flight… TOMCAT follows the intertwined destinies of this aircraft and Kara Hultgreen, the first female fighter pilot in the U.S. Navy, from the 1980s to the 1990s. He, Fast Eagle 107, is the powerful F-14 Tomcat whose legendary dogfight in the Gulf of Sidra inspired the film Top Gun. His problem: his temperamental engines, which have already caused the deaths of several pilots. She is Kara, radiant and audacious, who wants to become a fighter pilot. Her problem: she is a woman. Never losing her sense of humor, this brilliant aviator shatters, one by one, the prejudices of the military aviation community regarding her gender. Until she and her female colleagues were finally allowed to pilot that famous F-14.
Until that fateful October 25, 1994…
