On the night of June 5-6, 1944, 13,000 men belonging to the American airborne troops landed on Normandy soil, by parachute or glider. As the vanguard of the Allied troops, they were among the first to contribute to the liberation of France. Many of them would be killed or wounded in the early hours of D-Day, when they were barely twenty years old. This study describes the uniforms, insignia, and equipment with which these young men were equipped. A chapter is also dedicated to air transport. Indeed, the C-47s and their crews, directly involved in this fantastic epic, naturally find their place in these pages.
